All of these years and I did not have a name. I am really proud to say that I know have a name and its so beautiful. Montana is such a beautiful state that my foster mom while visiting decided to give me this name. I was rescued from a hoarding situation (75 dogs) on the Texas/Louisiana boarder the day before hurricane Laura hit with its massive destruction. The rescuers posted her picture as the sickest dog on the property and was in dire need of a rescue. My abdomen was really swollen with fluid due to my high heartworm burden causing me to have heart failure. Dogs like me in this condition typically do not survive but I got on a transport van and made it safely to the veterinary hospital and they did a full cardiac workup and drained my belly so I could breath and gave me several medications to help me get thru this nightmare. Moving forward I have just completed my first heartworm injection and everyone is so surprised at my incredible recovery. A little bit about my personality; I initially came in to my foster home afraid and was reactive but with proper time to decompress, slow introductions to the other dogs here and a regular schedule of feedings, basic training and confidence building I have learned that I will never have to fight for food and never be bred again. I still need training on leash walking but that will come with time and more training. My foster mom says I would be fine as an only dog but also would be great with another dog that can handle my size. I am now dog friendly but my foster mom still feeds me in my crate. I am crate trained, almost potty trained (most accidents are due to being on Lasix), I walk well on leash and love to play especially fetch. My thing is that I will always have a toy in my mouth. I love to carry it around all day long. I enjoy chewing on nylabones and snuggling up with my foster people is my favorite thing. I really love affection and attention as I was starved of any attention in my prior life. If you want a great big lap dog then I am your girl.
She will come with a few months of medications and the rescue will do her follow up cardiac ultrasound in 3 months.
