Tara was found in a feed stall outside a small rural town in South Texas. No one remembered seeing her in the area before. I was contacted and drove out to pick her up. She was so emaciated she could barely stand, she shook and her eyes were glazed and cloudy. She was in such horrific condition that the original finder thought she was old and blind. The vet told me she had to gain at least 15 pounds before we could even discuss heartworm treatment. The first few weeks she lay on one of my deep cushioned porch chairs and slept. She wouldn't stay in the house - no matter how many times I brought her in. As her body and soul healed, she began joining in activities around the fire pit with us and eventually following us in the house and staying there. In no time at all she was sleeping on a dog bed in our bedroom. As time passed and she gained weight, her personality sparkled. She began playing with younger foster dogs - running around, acting frisky. Her heartworm treatment was performed and during her stay at the vet she quickly became a vet tech and boarding room favorite. They loved watching her little fly away hairs blow, frisky attitude and wagging tail. Tara is a miracle story. No one will ever know her beginning but she deserves the best next chapter.
