Dottie is a sweet and resilient 8-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix with a heart full of love.

Dottie adores people—especially small children—and thrives on human companionship. She has some alpha tendencies and may try to guard her humans from other pets, but she responds well to guidance and structure. She is potty trained and crate trained but she’s trustworthy when left alone in the house. She has some classic Husky traits, including being vocal, particularly at mealtimes! She will need an experienced dog owner who can provide her with clear structure and leadership.

She was surrendered to the shelter after her elderly owner entered hospice care. Unfortunately, due to her owner's declining health, Dottie wasn't receiving the care she needed, and she arrived with hair loss, skin allergies, and severe ear infections. Thanks to medical care and lots of love, she is now healthy, happy, and ready for her next chapter!

Since Dottie spent her entire life in one home, she will need some time to adjust to a new environment. With patience, love, and reassurance, she will make a loyal and devoted companion to the right family.
