Star

RIP SWEET STAR   2/24/2017

Starr was found wandering the streets of Odessa, Texas.  She was homeless emaciated unwanted dog.  A week after we rescued her she was diagnosed with Valley Fever, a fungal infection that affects the lungs and other organs.  She was hospitalized and aggressive treatment was being done when we heard from the vet that Star passed peacefully on her own.

Our vet did everything she possibly could, yet Star's poor body just couldn't fight anymore. She eventually went into organ failure. Our sweet Star was definitely a fighter as she fought this horrible disease for thre e weeks.

She truly won our hearts.

Thank you to Susie, the best foster this girl could have asked for. And another special thank you to all of you. God bless you Star and we will see you again some day over the rainbow bridge. For now... run free sweet girl

Garth Brooks

RIP SWEET GARTH 9/1/2016

Garth was rescued wandering around a school ground in May 2016.  No collar, chip and no owner to claim him.  He was a senior with severe arthritis, horrible sun bleached coat, thin and seemed confused.   We accepted this old guy into our hospice program and vowed to provide, love and care for him until his time to cross the Rainbow Bridge on September 1st, 2016.

This old guy was stoic, loving and gentle especially with puppies running around.  He was a kind and gentle grand-pa.  Enjoyed swimming in the pool, enjoyed laying in the sun and finally had a soft bed to sleep on, regular good quality food, pain medications and most of all a lifetime of love.

Chica

RIP SWEET CHICA BABY!!  6/30/2016

Baby Chica came into our rescue along with her momma Anna Bell.  One momma and one puppy.  They were found as strays in South Texas and taken to a high kill shelter.  We soon realized both were in bad shape.  Momma was shot and had bullets lodged in her hips which crushed her hip joint requiring surgery.  Puppy Chica looked good initially but with vaccines, deworming and all necessary vet care she still had worms so badly they had blocked her intestines.  The dewormer wasn't enough to kill the parasites consuming her body.

She broke the hearts of many when she passed on June 30th especially her foster mom that worked so hard to help her.  She was loved so much by many.  We were so saddened as she could have lived a long and full life but neglect and disease took her way to soon.

Allie Mae

5/10/2000 - 10/14/2014  Allie's Haven Animal Rescue was started by Robin Hamilton after 10+ years of rescue work.  Allie's Haven was named after Robin's heart dog (you know that one dog that just captures your heart and sees you through everything - thick and thin heart)... Allie Mae.  Allie Mae helped Robin foster more than 100 dogs in her sweet almost 15 year lifetime and helped many of those dogs learn how to BE a dog.  Sadly, Allie Mae passed from Osteosarcoma also known as bone cancer.  She was kept comfortable for the last few months of her precious life and peacefully passed in Robins arms with the help of a veterinarian home hospice business.

So many dogs came to Allie Mae and Robin, broken, sick and weary.  So when Allie Mae passed it was only right to start a rescue in her name.  This was a way to save hundreds of dogs in her honor.

Allie's Haven's motto is; "Giving deserving dogs a second chance."  And that's exactly what we do.  It doesn't matter if they're hurt, broken in body or spirit or both... it doesn't matter if no other rescue wanted them or whether their owners tossed them away... Allie's Haven steps up to the plate and through lots of love, care and nurturing, we get those unwanted and broken dogs healed and on to their loving furever homes.

During Allie's Haven's first year we were able to save over 100 dogs with the help of wonderful fosters, volunteers, donations, love and many prayers.

We know Allie Mae is looking down with her big, beautiful doggy smile with a lot of friends that are there with her... and for that we are so proud.

We love you Allie Mae and we look forward to  saving many more dogs in your name!

Frito

Frito was rescued from a high kills shelter and developed parvo just a week later.  He was so special and deserving and our hearts are broken.  He just couldn't fight the fight.  We love you always!!!
